Surge in applications for resident permits

The number of people applying for residence permits in Poland has surged in the past two years. According to the Office for Foreigners in Warsaw, the number of resident permit applications increased by over 60 percent 2013-2015.
Radio Poland’s Kamila Kudelska went to the Office for Foreigners to find out who is applying to stay legally in Poland and why.
“I am from Turkey. I am working here in Poland and that is the reason why I am here - because the life quality here is much better than we have in Turkey,” said a man in his thirties.
A young student said: “I am from Japan. I have a boyfriend. He is Polish and we live together. I study Polish.”
